‘Williams Lake Indian Band announces appointment of the Band’s New Chief Administrative Officer.’

Today Chief Willie Sellars announced, ‘Williams Lake Indian Band has hired Aaron Manella as our new Chief Administrative Officer.

Aaron was recruited by the Royal from Scotiabank in Williams Lake where he was an outstanding Branch Manager there and was awarded the ‘Best of the Best’ – Top Branch Manager of F2017.

Chief Sellars was ‘happy with the ‘good fit’ Aaron provides for Williams Lake Indian Band.

He comes to our people with a ‘can do’ attitude which we found was a perfect fit for Williams Lake Indian Band.

We interviewed 3 candidates from Western Canada, we reviewed many more.

Aaron was the unanimous choice of the Interview Committee.

Band Council had recently engaged James R Craven @ Associates for this nation- wide Executive Search for the Band’s next CAO and are happy with the results.

Aaron began work early in November with William’s Lake Indian Band, leaving big shoes to fill in the Williams Lake Royal Bank where he had served as Branch Manager since July 2018.



Cumberland Council announces New Chief Administrative Officer

Cumberland, BC – Today Cumberland Mayor Leslie Baird announced, “Cumberland Council has hired Clayton Postings as our new Chief Administrative Officer to begin work early in the new year on January 13, 2020.”

“Clayton joins us from Ladysmith, where he served as Director of Parks, Recreation and Culture for a period of six years (2013-2019) and before that with the District of Saanich for five years

(2011 -2015) where he served as Manager of the G.R. Pearkes Recreation Centre. Clayton has also worked in the private sector with a company which operated P3 ice sheet facilities in Ontario and North Vancouver,” added the Mayor.

Mayor Baird further added, “Clayton was an outstanding candidate in this robust competition during which time we received resumes and expressions of interest from over 75 candidates. During our recent weekend of interviews, we interviewed four candidates from western Canada. Clayton was the unanimous choice of the Interview Committee, which was composed of all members of Council.”

Council had recently engaged James R Craven @ Associates for this nation-wide executive search for Cumberland’s next CAO and the work has been ongoing throughout the summer with Council’s close collaboration.

The City of Revelstoke has hired Steve Black to be the new director of engineering and public works.

Black has a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from the University of Utah with over 20 years of experience in municipal and public infrastructure, as well as land development. He brings with him experience in resort municipalities with vast responsibilities in management, planning, and budgeting making him an ideal fit for this role, said a news release from the city.

Black’s diverse knowledge includes both the public and private sectors; from project management, architectural/civil design, construction techniques, municipal infrastructure design, project coordination and detailed engineering.

“We are very pleased to have Steven joining the City’s Management Team, his accomplishments as a senior engineer and manager are sure to be a great addition to our very busy municipality,” said Mayor Gary Sulz. “I am confident that Steve will provide the necessary guidance to our engineering department, we are very excited to welcome him to the team.”

Steve expressed his enthusiasm to join the City’s management team through the Victor Hugo quote “There’s nothing like a dream to create the future” and is excited to formally begin his employment on Nov. 18, 2019.

“I am confident Steve will be a valuable addition to the management team,” said interim CAO Dawn Low. “We welcome him to our beautiful community and look forward to his stewardship of the City’s infrastructure and facility assets.”

The City of Fernie is pleased to announce that Council has hired Michael Boronowski as the City’s new Chief Administrative Officer (CAO).

Boronowski will join the City of Fernie from the District of Mission, where he has served as the Manager of Civic Engagement and Corporate Initiatives for the past five years. In this role, he has led major technology-transformations within the municipality and has been provincially recognized for his work transforming the Stave West Forest & Recreation Area.

“Mr. Boronowski is going to be an immediate asset to the City of Fernie team,” says Mayor Ange Qualizza. “He brings important local government experience, alongside an exemplary resume that combines varied post secondary education with experience in both the public and private sectors.”

Boronowski holds a Masters of Arts, and comes to Fernie with a depth of experience in branding, communications and engagement, organization and business development, strategic planning, and business optimization.

Council engaged James R. Craven and Associates for the comprehensive search for Fernie’s next CAO. Out of the strong pool of candidates, Boronowski was the clear choice from the interview panel, made up of City Councillors.

“This Council is committed to sustainable service delivery and encouraging community involvement in our future-planning. Mr. Boronowski is a leader in this area and that contributed to making him an obvious front-runner. We look forward to having him onboard as we continue to lead our growing City effectively into the future,” added Mayor Qualizza.

Boronowski will begin work in his new role on January 2, 2020.

‘Port Edward hires New Chief Administrative Officer’
‘With pleasure I would like to announce that Danielle Myles, presently Manager of Economic Development for the City of Terrace, is the new Chief Administrative Officer for the District of Port Edward’ said Mayor Knut Bjorndal today.

‘After a Canada wide Executive Search conducted by James R. Craven & Associates, (a local government recruiter with many years of experience in British Columbia), and reviewing 45 candidates, a short list was prepared with the collaboration of our Council. Interviews were held with the top three candidates several weeks ago in Port Edward. Prior to the shortlist Members of Council were also interviewed by Craven to ascertain the Council’s ‘Desired Qualities of the Perfect Candidate’.

The shortlisted candidates all brought a great deal to the interviews with the Council, but Danielle had the perfect combination of the qualities we were seeking as a Council’, said the Mayor.

Danielle leaves the City of Terrace as Manager of Economic Development, was previously Regional Manager of the Economic Operations Branch, and before that Policy Analyst for the BC Ministry of Aboriginal Relations.

We were delighted when she decided to apply for the newly posted position of Chief Administrative Officer’ said Mayor Bjorndal.

Michele Schalekamp welcomed a new Chief Financial Officer Kristi Bilodeau to the District of Sparwood. Kristi will be taking over financially from Michele following Michele’s recent appointment to the Sparwood CAO position.

Kristi has excellent references and previously worked as CFO for First Nations and also in Public Practice out of Cranbrook BC.

Sidney – Director of Engineering – Jenn Clary P.Eng. PMP.

Jenn Clary joins the Town of Sidney, effective June 2019 in the role of Director of Engineering.

Jenn leaves Metro Vancouver where she served successfully as a Professional Engineer for 6 years based in the sewer and water utilities side. During that time she was Senior Project Engineer in the Water Services, Operation and Maintenance.

Previously Jenn worked in the private sector in the construction industry coordinating LEEDS and quality requirements on a wide array of projects from including the Surrey Memorial Hospital and as a coordinator for a national project under the MacDonald’s franchise.

Kitimat – Director of Labour Relations and Human Resources - Marli Penner
Marli joins Kitimat District Municipality effective June in the capacity of Director.
Formerly with Coast Mountain College where she also handled HR and Labour , she comes with a great deal of experience and training in labour relations and human resources and the staff at Kitimat are looking forward to working with her. Marli has been recognized for proficiency by her association and has earned awards while in her present position with the College.

Over the past 2 months Mayor and Council started the search for a new CAO and retained the services of James R Craven and Associates to compile a list of candidates. Council felt that it was best to go to an open competition and as such through the services of James R Craven and Associates we received 45 applications from across Canada for the position.

In the past 2 weeks that list was brought down to a short list of 8 candidates that Mayor and Council felt, best suited what we were looking for in a candidate. This list ultimately ended up with 6 candidates as two candidates dropped out at the last minute.

On February 17th, 2019 Mayor and Council along with Jim Craven interviewed the final 6 candidates and through an eleven hour process came to picked our new CAO.

On behalf of Council I am pleased to announce that Michele Schalekamp has been selected to be the new CAO for the District of Sparwood, effective February 18, 2019.

Mayor and Council look forward to working with Michele and her team to move Sparwood forward for years to come.

I will make a formal announcement at the regular council meeting held on February 19th, 2019.

District of North Saanich Hires Tim Tanton as New Chief Administrative Officer North Saanich Council is pleased to announce the selection of Tim Tanton as the new Chief Administrative Officer (CAO) for the District of North Saanich.

“On behalf of Council and staff I would like to welcome Tim Tanton to the District of North Saanich. We are excited and optimistic as we embark on this important organizational transition” said Mayor Geoff Orr, “and wish the very best to our retiring CAO, Dr. Rob Buchan.”

The selection of Mr. Tanton follows a 5-month recruitment process that was initiated by the previous Council, finalized by the current Council, and supported throughout by our search Consultant James R Craven and Associates. There were more than 80 applicants for the position, with interest coming from across Canada in addition to many qualified and impressive candidates from the Capital Region.

Council worked with the consultant to arrive at a short list and ultimately interviewed 5 candidates.

“Council was very impressed with the high caliber of candidates,” said Mayor Orr. “We’re confident that Tim is the right choice for this critical position and brings with him considerable skill, passion and familiarity with North Saanich and the Saanich Peninsula.”

Tanton has 20 years of municipal and regional experience in the Capital Region. He previously held the position of Director of Infrastructure Services in North Saanich before shifting to Integrated Water Services at the Capital Regional District and is currently the Director of Development Services, Engineering, Parks and Works for the Town of Sidney. He is a professional engineer and also holds a Masters degree in public administration.

Tanton is expected to start in his new position on Monday January 7th, 2019.

Ryan Foster, formerly Water Quality Operator 2, City of Cranbrook, with previous experience in Water Distribution and Supply from the Municipality of Peel has been hired effective around September 1st to be the new Public Works Foreman of the Village of Zeballos.

Meredith Starkey, Acting CAO Village of Zeballos commented,"Ryan scored well during interviews in Zeballos as did the 2 other excellent candidates. He had exactly what we were looking for and it is great he is coming to join our team!"

John France was hired by the Village of Sayward as Chief Administrative Officer effective January 25th. John was formerly CAO of Sunshine Coast Regional District.

The Mayor and Council of the Village of Canal Flats are pleased to announce that Heidi Frank will be the new Chief Administraive Officer for the Village effective August 15, 2016.

Jennifer Larson CA will begin her duties as the Chief Financial Officer of the District early in September. Jennifer has been the Auditor of the District for 3 years and has had extensive experience in McAlpine & Co, an Accountant firm in Terrace enjoying the challenges of an active practice over a number of years, prior to that she carried out audit functions and work for INAC in Yellowknife and Hamlets across the north providing services there since 2001. She is currently President of the Rotary Club of Terrace.

Gregg Drury joins Stewart as Chief Administrative Officer in late September, Gregg has lived in the Northwest for many years and has provided many diverse and extensive administrative roles there successfully serving an extensive array of First Nations Clients and provincial government agencies – he also has demonstrated skills in business startups, and forestry work with a variety of clients in the area.

Mr Isakov previously held planning positions in Coquitlam and Harrison Hot Springs and has the relevant experience in Parks Planning, Design, and Business Development that the District was seeking for this position.

The District of Sechelt is pleased to announce the appointment of two departmental Directors, effective late April, 2016.

Ms. Nicholalea (Nikii) Hoglund has accepted the position of Sechelt’s Director of Engineering and Operations Services, responsible for the management of the services provided by the District’s Engineering, Public Works, and Parks departments.

Mr. Douglas Stewart will be joining the District as Director of Financial Services.




The City of Cranbrook has officially announced the appointment of David Kim as the new Chief Administrative Officer (CAO).

Mr Kim comes to Cranbrook via Calgary bringing with him over 20 years of leadership experience in both the public and private sectors. An engineer by trade, Mr Kim spent 14 years with the City of Calgary first as an engineer with the Transportation department before moving up to Manager of Urban Development with the municipality. Most recently Mr Kim was Vice President of Land Development with R.J. Burnside & Associates Limited -a Canadian and international engineering and environmental consulting company with eleven branches nationally including Calgary.

The Strathcona Regional District Board of Directors is pleased to announce that David Leitch will take the reins as the new Chief Administrative Officer (CAO) for the Regional District effective March 1, 2016.

“We are excited to have Dave join us,” said John MacDonald, Chair of the Regional District. “He has significant local government management experience, and his knowledge of regional governance and engineering expertise will be a tremendous asset to the organization. We look forward to working with him.”

Mr. Leitch brings with him more than 20 years of local government experience in the fields of engineering, administration, public works and utilities. A graduate of the British Columbia Institute of Technology, he has a diploma in civil engineering with additional certificates in management, local government administration, and water and waste water management. Mr. Leitch has held senior management positions with the Comox Valley Regional District, the Cowichan Valley Regional District and the Regional District of Nanaimo.

Bud Massey, Reeve of Westlock County announced the appointment of Mr. Duane Colemen as the County's new CAO effective March 7th, 2016.

Duane has a solid background in the private and public sector. He is known for his successful and imaginative solutions while in both the local government and the private sector.

Presently, Duane is General Manager of Edcon Power Tongs and was formerly Chief Administrative Officer for Lac Le Biche for a lengthy period.

Prior to that he was Manager of Human Resources in Sturgeon County.

Duane has his Senior Executive Fellows Certificate in Local Government and a Certificate in Local Government and is well recognized by his peers a good fit for a place like Westlock which is in the process of reinventing itself.

Bruce Grieg Director of Planning, District of Central Saanich is pleased to announce that Kyle McStravick begins in the early New Year as Planner for the District of Central Saanich. Kyle was a very effective member of the planning and development team at the City of Langford prior to accepting this new challenge.

Mayor Ken Williams of the District of the Highlands in southern Vancouver Island advised that the new Chief Administrative Officer/Chief Financial Officer for the District is Loranne Hilton. Loranne has played a senior role in the Administration of the District of Oak Bay as Acting CAO and as Director of Corporate Services and started her career in the Highlands in a similar role more than a decade ago.

The Provincial Agricultural Land Commission (ALC) is pleased to announce that Kim Grout has been appointed as their new Chief Executive Officer (CEO). Kim had previously served the City of Pitt Meadows for 11 years, as Chief Administrative Officer (CAO), Deputy CAO, and as their Director of Operations and Development Services. She had also worked in the past for the cities of Maple Ridge and Abbotsford. A leader with extensive experience in local government operations, she possesses a B.Sc. in Agriculture from UBC, as well as professional certification as a Registered Professional Agrologist and a Registered Professional Planner.

Kim will begin her duties on Dec. 14, 2015.

Since 1994 Mark has been a Project Director and/or Executive Director for a number of high profile Programs within the BC Provincial Government including the Open Information Initiative, Auditor General for Local Government, Police Services Division, and Strategic Justice Partnerships. Mark has a BA from University of Victoria and an MA from Colorado State University

Melany has a been an effective manager for 15 years in the private sector and in local government – she leaves her last position (five years as Chief Financial Officer and Deputy CAO for the District of Taylor) to begin work in Cache Creek in late July.

Erica has had previous experience with the We’suet’en First Nation as a Land Use Planner and with the Lake Babine First Nation in the Natural Resources Group.

Erica has a BA in Environmental Planning from University of the North and recently completed a Language/Teaching Program from Nicola Institute of Technology.

Jordan Wall, B.A., Economics, presently Regional Account Development Executive for Northern Industrial Sales has accepted the position of Economic Development Officer - District of Tumbler Ridge. Mr. Wall was raised in Tumbler Ridge and ran a successful business there in Terrace as well.

He has had extensive overseas experience, in South East Asia (China, Korea and Japan and after his degree and his work and travel returned to Tumbler Ridge to take up his duties as Account Executive for Northern Industrial Sales.

David Szucsko begins his new position in Tumbler Ridge as Director of Community Services on December 1st, 2013. He has been a teacher with the Northern Lights College for the last decade.

First Nations Stewardship Society

Robert Grodecki has recently been appointed Executive Director of the North Coast Skeena Stewardship Society. He began his new position mid-September 2013 bringing with him a wealth of experience from his previous positions as Corporate Administrator of Prince Rupert (2009 to present), Administrative Manager of Metlakatla Band Council and roles with Skeena Cellulose.

Deputy Corporate Officer for Tumbler Bridge ‘Jeanette Mc Dougall will be starting her new position as Deputy Corporate Officer with Tumbler Ridge on November 25th, 2013. She previously worked for Sechelt as Executive Secretary to the Mayor and had extensive experience in similar positions in the private sector. ‘

After a spirited Canada wide competition, Rob Bullock was selected as the new Executive Director of GFOA. He has a diverse array of valuable qualities from his position as Director of Financial and Support Services of the Children’s Foundation and previously a senior role with the City of Edmonton.

Bernice Crossman, CGA has accepted the position of Director of Financial Services for the Village of Burns Lake. Bernice has been in private practice in Burns Lake for over 15 years. She starts with Village of Burns Lake in early September.

Daniel Plamondon, Senior Planner with Central Okanagan Regional District since 2004 has accepted the position of Chief Administrative Officer for the Village of Cache Creek. Mr. Plamondon starts with Cache Creek in early October.

Bruce Grieg, Planner of Central Saanich for the last 5 years, has been appointed ‘Director of Planning and Building Services’ for the District of Central Saanich, effective immediately. Bruce is a Registered Planner who brings a wealth of talent, and experience from both the public sector and the private sector to this position.

During his career in both the US and Canada he consulted to a variety of clients in Jackson, Wyoming for 5 years, and was also a principal in a private company of Landscape Architects in British Columbia.

Peace River Regional District is very happy to announce that, after a spirited competition, Jo-Ann Frank has been appointed as Corporate Officer effective mid January. Jo-Ann brings many years of Corporate Officer and HR Training with her from both the District of Sechelt and earlier from the Cariboo Regional District.

Tumbler Ridge is happy to secure the services of Brent Schofield as their new Civil Engineering Technologist. Brent brings a wealth of experience with him from the private sector in Nanaimo, where he was engaged for a five years with Lewkowich Engineering. Brent begins his new career on January 7th, 2013 in Tumbler Ridge.

Svitlana Zapel has been appointed Director of Development and Engineering of the District of Tumbler Ridge. She begins her duties in early January. Svitlana has a distinguished career as an engineer in charge of sewer, water, roads and airports in Colorado and Europe .

Douglas Beale has been appointed Operations Manager of the District of Tumbler Ridge effective late November. Doug has many years of experience in similar roles in the private sector.

Michelle Martineau has joined the City of Fernie as Director of Corporate Administration. Michelle was previously in a similar role in the District of Tofino.

Gord Howie, Chief Administrative Officer (CAO) of Prince Rupert , will begin his duties as CAO of the District of Sooke effective February 1st 2013.

He has served in many other capacities as Local Government Mentor and Lecturer at MATI, Royal Roads, and Banff Conference Centre and as past Chair and Founding Director of Municipal Insurance Association.

Gord has had a long and distinguished career in local government, twice as CAO of Prince Rupert, as CAO of North Vancouver District and as deputy CAO of Richmond.

Former Director of Legislative Services and interim CAO, popular Chief Administrative Officer (CAO) of Northern Sunrise County (NSC), Peter Thomas has been appointed CAO of Northern Sunrise County.

After a spirited competition which included a large number of candidates from across Canada , Peter was chosen by the Reeve and Council of the County to succeed Bob.

Prior to joining Peter was CAO of Pouce Coupe for four years and also played senior executive roles in Tumbler Ridge and Faro, Yukon.

Corien Speaker has been hired as Chief Administrative Officer for the District of Squamish effective July 3rd, 2012.

Corien has been working in local government for almost 21 years, and held the role of CAO for the District of Elkford for almost eight years. As a CAO, Corien is a progressive leader who embraces innovation. She led many successful strategic initiatives while in Elkford, including an integrated climate change adaptation / OCP project, an award winning branding and economic development project, and the renegotiation of the Elk Valley Industrial Property Tax sharing Agreement. She also participated on the Province’s Industrial Property Tax Review Advisory Committee and the RCMP Contract Negotiation Advisory Committee, and is currently the First Vice President of the Local Government Management Association.

Previous to her work at the District of Elkford, Corien was the Chief Financial Officer for the City of Prince Rupert. She is a Certified General Accountant, participated in the Royal Roads University Local Government Leadership Program, and holds a Diploma in Local Government Management from the University of Victoria.

Mr. Patrick Robins has been selected to be the new Chief Administrative Officer of Central Saanich. He will replace Mr. Gary Nason who will be retiring in mid July. He is currently the Chief Administrative Officer / Clerk-Treasurer of the Town of Princeton, BC, and previous to that was the Chief Administrative Officer / Clerk of the District of Invermere and the Director of Financial Services with the District of Squamish. Mr. Robins is a graduate of the University of Victoria with a Bachelor of Arts in Economics. He also holds a Senior Certificate in Local Government Administration from the Provincial Board of Examiners and a Diploma in Accounting Technology from the Certified Management Accountants Society of BC.

Mr. Robins will be commencing his duties with Central Saanich on July 9, 2012.

Gina Albers has accepted the position of Deputy Corporate Administrator for the City of Quesnel . She has had previous Corporate Service experience in the Town of Slave Lake and has also worked for the District of Kitimat.

She also has an extensive administrative background including Land Titles experience.

Mayor Frank Leonard and Saanich council are pleased to announce that Paul Murray has been appointed Chief Administrative Officer effective June 1, 2012. The current Chief Administrative Officer Tim Wood, is retiring on May 31, 2012.

Mr. Murray joined Saanich in 2001 as the Director of Corporate Projects and became the Director of Finance in 2004. He previously served as the Finance Director in Central Saanich and Langford and was the General Manager of CREST.

Mr Murray is a Certified General Accountant with a Master of Public of Administration from the University of Victoria. He was recently the President of the British Coumbia Finance Officers Association and currently sits on the Local Government Management Association of British Columbia Board of Directors.

Mayor Frank Leonard said "We congratulate Mr. Murray on being successful in this open competition. His strategic and progressive leadership style combined with his understanding of local government will serve Saanich well."

The Village of Queen Charlotte Mayor and Council are pleased to announce that Mr. Pete Weeber has accepted an offer of employment as the new Chief Administrative Officer commencing June 4, 2012. Mr. Weeber is currently a resident of Terrace where he worked from 2001 to 2011 as a paramedic, firefighter and, from 2005 to 2011 was the Terrace Fire Chief and Emergency Program Coordinator. Most recently he has worked as Corporate Officer for the Village of New Hazelton and was the acting Chief Administrative Officer for the Village of Stewart. Pete has a Bachelor of Applied Business in Emergency Services, a Certificate in Local government Administration and is working to complete an Advanced Diploma in Managing for Government in 2012. He will be working with our current Administrator, Bill Beamish, for the month of June while he gets settled and becomes familiar with the community.

CITY OF QUESNEL

John Stecyk joined the City of Quesnel as Chief Administrative Officer (CAO) in early January 2011.

John has played many roles in Engineering and Administration including Superintendent Regina Public Schools, Deputy Minister of Infrastructure Yukon, and in his last role before joining Quesnel, Regional Engineer and Construction Project Leader Government of Canada.

POWELL RIVER REGIONAL DISTRICT

Mac Fraser will start as Chief Administrative Officer (CAO) on April 1st, 2011 with the Powell River Regional District.

Mac leaves Islands Trust where has worked as Director of Planning for Islands Trust since 2007, following a role as CAO for Cumberland from 2002 to 2006.

TSAWWASSEN FIRST NATION

Ed Chanter joins Tsawwassen First Nation as Director of Lands in early March. Ed has been a Municipal Planner for a number of local governments in BC and Alberta including the City of Prince George.

Patrick Thompson joins Tsawwassen First Nation in March as Special Projects Officer, and has a background as a lawyer and as a planner.

VILLAGE OF GIBSONS

Warren Waycheshen joins the Village of Gibsons on April 1st as Chief Administrative Officer (CAO).

Warren leaves the District of Mackenzie where he has served 1st as Chief Financial Officer and for the last 7 years as CAO.

George Moore started at the Kincolith (Gingolx) First Nations Band office on the 14th of September as their new Band Manager/ Village Administrator Lori Pilon starts on January 4th, 2010 at Cache Creek as their new Chief Financial Officer. Lori came from Pemberton Village where she was Chief Administrative Officer for many years and before that from Lions Bay and other CAO assignments prior to that. Sheila Munro resigned as CFO in Cache Creek several months ago. Ken Cooper started on Dec1st, 2009 at the Campbell River Indian Band as their new Band Manager. Bill Beamish starts early in the new year at the Village of Queen Charlotte as their new Chief Administrative Officer. Bill formerly served the District of Houston and later the Town of Gibsons as Chief Administrative Officer for many years until his retirement several years ago.

James R Craven has been reappointed to the FCM Green Fund for a further term of 2 years (December 15th, 2009 to December 14th 2011. James also Chairs the Investment Committee and is acting Chair of the Audit Committee.

Although Scott leaves the Cultus Lake Parks Board Chief Administrative Officer position with some regret he and his family are looking forward to this new opportunity very much.     Iain Bell, Director of Engineering and Development Services, District of Elkford, has been appointed Director of Engineering and Public Works for the Town of Creston , effective October 6th, 2008. Stephanie Dunlop, formerly Acting Fire Chief of the District of Metchosin was appointed Fire Chief of Metchosin in late July after the search competition interviewed a number of excellent candidates. The unanimous decision was made by a Recruiting Committee composed of the Mayor and Council, a Fire Protection Advisor and Expert, and several members of the Fire Department. Tom Kadla has been appointed Chief Administrative Officer of Cache Creek. Tom leaves his former position of Manager, Parks and Solid Waste Services, City of Prince George to take up his new duties on September 15th, 2008.

    1. Paul Gipps is now the CAO for Gibsons, BC Paul leaves Houston and will officially begin his new duties on July 2nd although he will be arriving a week earlier to be briefed on important files by the retiring CAO Bill Beamish. Good luck to both of you. Bill will take the summer off and then go into semi retirement mode working as a consultant and a facilitator.

    2. Jim Martin has been appointed CAO for Fraser Fort George Regional District – Jim served the Regional District as Interim CAO after Jan 1st , 2007 and before that served the FFGRD as Manager of Environmental Services.

    3. Donna Kildaw has been appointed CAO for the Village of Lytton effective July 23rd. Donna worked for the Manitoba Provincial Government, serving as Executive Assistant/ Office Manager in a Ministers Office.

    4. Paul McKivett of JRC & Associates is presently working on salary studies for Alberni Clayoquot Regional District, District of Port Edward, Village of Vanderhoof , and has completed a study for Burns Lake and for Tumbler Ridge.

    Jim Craven and Suzanne Baden are back from the sunny desert in California and enjoying cleaning up the winter storm damage on their East Sooke property. Lots of firewood has been provided by nature’s forces and there was no harm done to the house, office or outbuildings. Associate Lee Teal and husband Harvey Teal are presently exploring the wonders of Argentina for a month.

    New searches:

    We have two new CAO positions available in the town of Gibsons, BC and also the town of Smithers, BC. George Paul will be working with the Smithers Council.

    In progress:

    George Paul is currently interviewing for the Village of Burns Lake, BC, CAO position. Associate Paul McKivett is finishing a wage and salary study for Skeena Queen Charlotte Regional District. Tanalee Hesse is acting CAO for Skeena Queen Charlotte while the search is in progress.

    Cook’s Ferry Indian Band in Spences Bridge, BC may be re-advertised next week.

    Associates Paul Douville and Bill Eccleston are assisting with the Manager of Engineering posting in Rossland, BC. We have discovered that the 30 resumes we received for the Banff Manager of Engineering position are useful in developing a short list for the Rossland position.

    Dennis McGill is the new Band Manager for Gwa’sala-‘Nakwaxda’xw Nation First Nation. Michael Maturo has been hired by the City of Rossland as their new Planner. Dan Rodin (former Secretary Treasurer of Prince Rupert School District ) is now the Chief Financial Officer of Prince Rupert and Evelyne Labelle, a member of the staff, has accepted the position of Manager of Engineering for the Town of Banff. Robyn Newton from the District of North Vancouver is the new Manager of Research and Consulting at SPARC BC




    January Update

    Jim and Suzanne are working/playing from their 'California Office’ and will be back on the Feb 22nd.     Fred Banham is the new CAO Peace River Regional District (he was formerly the deputy). Elizabeth Andersen is the new Director of the Omineca Beetle Action Coalition (formerly the acting Director).
